Another year
One of the best movies of 2010. Mike Leigh exquisitely portrays the life of a loving, happy family, contrasting with the lives of the family’s shattered friends. Their friends are just ordinary people that try to find some little solace and companionship for their grief.
And while in their twenties, this search is almost charming, free-spirited; it is utterly heartbreaking as time passes by, as they desperately hunger for something, for someone that makes some sense. Just someone to talk to… And no one comes. And all there is, is solitude, hidden behind whatever may bring some relief or forgetfulness.
